  1. I used to teach people who wanted to work with very young children. NC requires anyone working in a licensed child care facility to take a few college classes to learn (hopefully) about development and appropriate practice with children. In the class about guiding behavior (what a hard topic for so many !!) – the text used one phrase to memorize and refer to in all actions – “Be kind, be safe, be neat”
I required all my students to link every theory and technique to this phrase. I think it works for young children and for their teachers – it’s short and sweet.
I am retired now and haven’t thought about this for years. In our efforts to “overflow with kindness”, the phrase comes back and has stayed in my head for days. I have been thinking of the people I meet in daily life, the decisions I make for myself and my values for our country and planet –
“Be Kind, Be Safe, Be Neat” – with love.
It’s made a difference to me.

    1. Hi Mary,
Thank you! I love this. How wonderful and powerful the realization that connecting to the moments of your day and the values of your country and planet can be achieved by something “short and sweet”. I think we have a tendency to make things complicated, maybe all that is needed is to be kind, be safe and be neat.

May we all be kind, safe and neat,
      meg
